The India Gospel League are committed to seeing church planters around India be trained in the bible.

A unique link between this Indian organisation and evangelical Christians around Australia has formed. Through this partnership, Aussies head to India and teach Moore College correspondence courses to the pastors who can not afford to be trained in a formal setting in India.

Over two weeks we’ll be teaching different courses (Old Testament 1 and Ephesians) in two towns, training around 100 church planters and evangelists.

We need to raise a total of $13,175 for the trip.

The first $4400 of this is to cover registration and accommodation for the pastors attending the conferences – about $55 per pastor. The remainder is to cover in-country costs for the team – $75 per team member per day. (Team members have to pay their own travel expenses and incidental costs.)

I’m listening to Leon Morris preaching on ‘unity’ from Ephesians (NTE 1979!), and it’s funny that not all that much changes. He still punches home that we’re saved by grace, that Jesus has destroyed all barriers of separation, and he even has a stab at the average hygiene levels of the male members of the audience…

So I noticed a link to this article on facebook this morning. As many of us are just about to head off for a wonderful week of In Christ, I thought I’d share it with you.

And Mission Week is all about talking to lots of people

This is a quote from a reasonably famous piece of Jewish poetry. It was written by their second King, David, way back around 1000 BC.
And it’s a pretty interesting thought don’t you think? When you look at the skies, you cannot help but see God. Let me quote a bit more of the psalm/poem.

Psalm 19
For the director of music. A psalm of David.
The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge.
There is no speech or language
where their voice is not heard.

According to David the skies chatter away about God constantly in every language. Every single person on the globe can hear what they have to say regarding  their creator.

Now it’s worth noting that this is a poem, not a line from a science textbook. This poem doesn’t attempt to deal with HOW the heavens came to be. It doesn’t even really describe HOW they declare God for all to see and hear. No, the point is that they do talk about God. When David looked up at the sky he could not help but marvel at the God who made them.
The point is that there is something about God that everyone in the entire world can know. It’s not much, it’s pretty general. i.e. You can’t look up at the sky and come up with a complete systematic belief in the death and resurrection of Jesus. This Psalm isn’t saying that.

But it is saying  there’s something about God you can know just by looking around you.

What do you reckon? When you look up at the sky, what do you see? What do you hear? What about other parts of our incredible world? How do they speak to you?
