Collision: Joint Screening with A3

Collision is a fantastic documentary following a tour of debates between evangelical pastor Doug Wilson and prominent atheist Christopher Hitchens, as they argue the topic “Is Christianity Good For The World?” NCS and A3 (The Atheist Society) are hosting a screening which will be followed by lively discussion, and you’re invited to come and engage!

The Bible Talks are BACK!

This Semester the Tuesday bible Talks will be over in Engineering room ES204. It’s one of the main lecture rooms, near the big white sail

And the Thursday talks will be in the maths building, V07, that’s just down from where it was last semester.

In weeks 5 -7 various people from around NCS will be tackling some of Newcastle Uni’s top questions for God by looking at what God has already said on the issue.

We’re still working out what question will be answered. If you want to throw something into the mix please send us an email newcastlechristianstudents {at} gmail(.)com

We’ll publish a list of which question will be answered when as soon as we know.

I’m really looking forward to this! I reckon they’ll be really good talks to bring mates along to. And if you’re checking out the claims of Christianity I’m pretty confident they’ll scratch somewhere near where you’re itching…

Big Day Out

The NCS Big Day Out is this Saturday. I’m really looking forward to it! It’s going to be a day of hanging out, having fun, forging friendships, digging into the bible together and good food. What’s not to love about that?

One full day of hanging out is worth several weeks of normal interactions, so if you want to know more about NCS this is perfect way to find out.

Light House Walk

The NCS/FOCUS Light House walk is on this Thursday night. We’re really psyched and hope that heaps of new students will come.

It’s always a great time hanging out with new friends in an awesome surrounding.

I just checked the weather and it looks like it’ll be fine evening, but reasonably cool with a moderate breeze. You might want to bring a jumper?

Kickoff 2011

Saturday 19th Feb

Islington Baptist Church Hall

New students will be streaming onto campus for O-week. Some will be Christian students, looking for a Christian student group. Others will be looking for friendly people, or even free food. All of them need to know Jesus.

~ This is something so important it’s worth planning for! ~

So many people come to know about NCS during O-week, and we only need to look at our own stories to be reminded of how beneficial the Bible talks, Small groups and WinterCons have been in moving us to love and treasure Jesus Christ as our only Rock and Redeemer.
.
At Kickoff we’ll plan how to welcome them during O-week, and take care of them in the following weeks. We’ll fellowship around God’s word, enjoy some food together, and pray for those that Jesus will be entrusting to us for the most formative years of their faith!
